That nexus of public health and climate action in the fight against climate change was the discussion topic during the November community meeting of nonprofit Yampa Valley Sustainability Council that included updates from Steamboat Springs physicians and hospital staff.
“The consequences of the climate-health nexus are already being felt, both locally and around the world today,” explained YVSC Executive Director Michelle Stewart, who holds a PhD in human-environment geography. “The World Health Organization states clearly that climate change presents a fundamental threat to health.”
