Annual report “The State of Recycling and Composting” notes role of circular economy

Eco-Cycle and CoPIRG released the 7th annual State of Recycling and Composting report November 15. Colorado’s recycling rate remains low at about 16 percent, however there are signs of progress. The report highlights new state and local policies and programs that are underway, creating potential to boost recycling and composting rates. When solving our material waste problem, as the report notes, recycling is not enough. The establishment of the Circular Economy Development Center, and its focus on expanding end markets, is set to “propel manufacturing using recycled materials” and is just one example of the additional steps Colorado is taking.
